We are uniting the Jax Beach community by helping struggling families and individuals, especially our vets during the holiday season in order to make their lives a little brighter.
We are asking our community and our viewers to write into any of our correspondents via email, any of our social media or via our website. Tell us about their situation and the struggles they are having. Whether they have lost their job, have crippling medical bills, death in the family…whatever has them in the situation that has compromised their lives.
Based on the letters/information we receive, we will collectively choose a handful of families/individuals/vets to give them a full of Christmas. This will include the toy donations as well as a Christmas tree, a full Christmas dinner (catered by a local restaurant) and a $50 Walmart or Publix gift card to use at their own discretion.
For those of our vets that may be homeless or families that may not have a place to live, we will be providing a 2-night hotel stay, December 24th and 25th for 1 family and 1 or 2 vets, so they can have a warm bed, hot shower and will provide professional grooming from a local hair salon or barbershop.
We will be taking donations at our drop off locations with the help of some local Jax Beach businesses. These businesses have opened their doors and their hearts and allowed us to put our donation boxes in their establishments so our community can drop off toys and supplies. The following businesses will be our official drop off locations:
• Tavern at the 1st : 401 1st St N, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250
• Pep Boys: 1300 N 3rd St, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250
• To be determined
For those with kids, tweens, and teens, that are struggling with affording gifts; we will have our toy warehouse available to come in on the weekend of December 21st and 22nd and go through the warehouse and pick out toys from our selection. Hopefully this will give those families that need the help, the ability to give their kids a better and brighter Christmas.
For those of you who wish to donate, please do so at any of our drop off locations. We need toys for infants, toddlers, tweens and teens. Tweens and teens are usually left behind in programs like this and we need to make sure they know that they are not invisible, especially at such a hard age.
If you want to become a drop off location or collect at your own private holiday parties, contact us and we will work with you to help others.
Do you need help or know a family, individual or veteran that is struggling during this holiday season granting their children toys, or just fallen on hard times and need a little help? Tell us about your or their situation, nominate them to our program and we will try to help out with our Jax Beach Reach program.
